Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born in Salzburg, Austria on January 27,1756. His father was already a famous composer and violinist in his own right. He taught young Wolfgang how to play the harpsichord and he quickly became a child prodigy;composing his first musical piece at age five. He had his first piece published when he was seven; and he wrote his first

opera when he was twelve. By the time Wolfgang was 6, he was an excellent pianist and violinist and he and his sister Maria Anna toured all over Europe performing for royalty


When Mozart grew up, he moved to Vienna and tried to make a living as a composer and a pianist. But
things were very difficult. Much like the stars of today such as Britney Spears and Michael Jackson, Mozart had a very hard time coping with the fact that he was getting older and audiences were no longer making a fuss over him. To make matters worse, he was very much a musical genius and still composing awesome musical works, including operas, symphonies, concertos, masses and chamber music.
He died very young at the age of 35on December 5, 1791. No one knows the exact reason why. There are rumors that he may have been poisoned by another composer who was his rival. His name was Antonio Salieri. His popularity may have waned during the later years of his lifetime but his music continues to grow in popularity even to this day.
